The Digital Content Development Grant 2020 serves to enhance the quality of digital sport productions and help freelancers and businesses expand their reach through hosting their content on the ActiveSG Circle virtual platform.
The Digital Content Grant 2020 will focus in aiding companies to sharpen their businesses by using Sport Singapore as a test bed in generating engaging content. This will create new leads as well as engage our existing database with various themes aligned with the various segments and for them to generate commercial revenue through our platforms.

Each application will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and we welcome applications from the following groups:

Successsful grant applicants will receive between $80,000 to $150,000.
We are looking for content that is primarily sport related or can be linked back to sport. All content that is produced under this grant must be directly or indirectly sport related that will encourage the target audience in learning new skills, being inspired and/or increasing participation.
All content that is created must contain at least two of the three elements of care, cohesion and confidence to demonstrate how sports has been used to build social capital, to inspire the Singapore spirit and to make Singapore home.
The types of content that would qualify for this grant are listed below:
Family and sport - Focused on how families are using sport to stay active and healthy as well as improving their quality of relationship
Team Singapore - Content focused on our TS athletes, their lifestyles, preparation for games etc - getting to know them better
Rising stars - Content about youth athletes who are looking to becoming Singapore’s next sporting heroes
Against all odds - Focused on how people have used sport to turn their lives around despite their difficult life situation
Sport performance - Content focused on sport science and the science behind sport performance
Historical/heritage - Focused on the historical stories of sport in Singapore, our humble beginnings, sporting legends, our achievements and accomplishments
Movers and shakers - Focused on how sport related companies have changed the sporting landscape in Singapore and beyond our shores with the use of innovation and technology
Corporate athletes - Focused on the corporate athlete scene in Singapore
Sport wellness - Focused on how sport and wellness are intertwined in today’s society
Never too old - Focused on how our senior citizens are using sport to stay active and healthy
Back to basics - Skills based content for various sport separated into different levels of difficulty for various segments
Masterclasses - professionally developed self learning sport related classes by subject matter experts
Current Sport News - Content that is focused on sporting events in Singapore
We are open to all sport content for this segment as long as the content aims to enhance the skills of the viewer. Some suggested sport types are:
Yes, as long as it fulfils the criteria and follows a general theme. It is required to be published on ActiveSG Circle.
Yes, but there should only be one lead applicant per proposal, who will undertake all decisions and correspondences that are made with regard to the project. All partnership details, including written proof of collaboration or intent, should be included in the proposal.

The grant supports digital video content as the intent is to help companies or individuals to sharpen their businesses by using ActiveSG in generating engaging content.
We also welcome a mix of video and other content types e.g. article, photos etc.
Companies/businesses can send in multiple applications for different projects. You should not submit different proposals for each episode which falls within the same theme. Each proposal needs to be a different series based on different themes, and these proposals will be evaluated and assessed individually.
No, projects must not have started production at time of fund and award. Qualifying costs should also not have been incurred, at the point of application.
Yes you may but do take note that each grant has their own accompanying qualifying criteria as well as terms and conditions that must be adhered to.
You may submit more than one application for Digital Content Development. However, please ensure each application for production of a different type of content. Please refer to the FAQ on the type of content to create.
No, it must be original content ideas and must not have been produced before.
SportSG will like to encourage companies / businesses to embrace digitalisation, to be able to produce content that will be more relatable. Applicants can choose to either create their own productions or work with a production company.
Those costs will not be separate from the approved grant amount.
Yes, all videos will be exclusively hosted on ActiveSG Circle. However, you may post short promotional trailers on other platforms to drive people to watch the videos on ActiveSG Circle.
Intellectual property ownership to the project will reside with Sport Singapore. All successful applicants shall agree that SportSG has the global, perpetual rights to use, distribute and modify the content in part or in full.
If the applicant is seeking other sources of funding, the applicant must ensure that other donors and/or sponsors, do not contest or own the intellectual property.
You may be able to get due credit mention in the description for the video and also branding and logo can be added to the end frame. However, the actual placement of the credit, branding or logo will be confirmed upon award of the grant and during the submission of story board.
ActiveSG Circle will help with outreach via our marketing channels. We will also package the content to encourage proper structured learnings.
We look forward to receiving content from approved applicants between March 2021 and March 2022. Grant officers will be in touch with approved applicants regarding project deliverables.
You may seek other sources of funding including sponsorship and donations. However, you may not apply for digital content grant if you are also seeking other grant for content creation from government agencies including SportSG. If found that there is any untruth or fraudulent application, SportSG shall reserve the right to require the applicant to SportSG any portion of the digital content grant that has already been paid to the applicant.
Funds will be paid out paid out in tranches. First of which, will be paid out upon submission of the first deliverable. Grant officers will be in touch with approved applicants regarding project deliverables.
All grant application results shall be made known by Mar 2021.
