Overview

The SportSG Enterprise Innovation and Capability Development Grant (“InnoGrant”) seeks to catalyse the nexus of sports, fitness and technology in order to transform the way we experience physical activities. 

Targeted at innovative solutions that have the potential to be new growth engines for the sport and fitness industry, the grant offers financial support of up to $180,000 per project. 

The objectives of the InnoGrant are to:

  • Build capability and capacity of enterprises in the development and application of technology and/or innovative solutions to the sport and fitness industry;
  • Enable sport and fitness as a platform to encourage and stimulate collaborative research and development with adjacent industries; and
  • Surface innovative ideas/solutions that have the potential to be new growth engine(s) for sport and fitness industry.

We are looking for proposals in the following categories:

  • Performance Technology
  • Engagement and Experience
  • Material Technology

There will be a briefing to introduce the InnoGrant and provide more details for interested applicants. Our strategic partner, the Global Sports Innovation Centre powered by Microsoft (GSIC), will also join us in this briefing to highlight global trends in the Sport-tech landscape and share insights on the latest cutting-edge solutions.

Eligibility

This grant is open to:

Sport & fitness businesses in the following categories:

  • Gym/fitness/health & wellness studios;
  • Sport event organisers and/or event management companies;
  • Sport facility operators; or
  • Private sport academies and clubs.

OR Enterprises in adjacent industries pursuing technology solutions that are sport-related or have applicability to sport, including without limitation technology companies.

Applicants must:

  • Be a business entity registered and operating in Singapore;
  • Have a minimum of 30% local shareholding;
  • Be in a financially viable position; and
  • Declare any existing sources of government funding for the same proposal (e.g. grants from SportSG, Enterprise Singapore, Economic Development Board, etc)

Criteria

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a detailed proposal to be evaluated based on the following:

  1. Business and Capability Development
    1. What is the extent your business might be transformed through your solution, and how would your solution create added value for consumers?
    2. Why is your solution relevant for sport and why does the industry need it?

  2. Market Sensing, Readiness and Impact
    1. Are you able to identify your addressable and target market?
    2. How might your solution help attract new clients or business opportunities, and what are your plans for adoption?

  3. Innovation
    1. How much does it improve the consumers life or experience with sport?
    2. What is the extent the solution challenges or changes the status quo in the sport market?

  4. Risk Management
    1. How able are you to see through the development of your proposal from start to end?
    2. How able are you to ensure the longevity of your proposal?

We look forward to receiving your preliminary pitch by 10 Jan 2022. We are keen to find out a bit more about your solution. Only shortlisted applicants will then be invited to submit a detailed proposal for grant evaluation.
