Overview

Following MTF’s announcement on 4 May 2021, Sport Singapore provided guidance regarding the stricter set of measures that concerns all sports, physical exercises & activities, and public & private sports & recreational facilities in Singapore for the period of 8 to 30 May 2021. These measures are directed towards reducing or containing community spread of COVID-19 by stopping high-risk physical activities, sport and exercise environments that are indoors, where participants are in close contact, exerting and are not reasonably expected to be wearing masks. 
 
The support from this Operating Grant will be for gymnasiums and fitness studios (under SSIC code 93111) in Singapore which have been impacted by the latest Guidelines issued on stricter safe management measures for sport and physical exercise & activity. Businesses of similar nature but have different SSIC codes i.e. 85410, 93119, 93120 can apply for Sport Singapore’s assessment.
 
 
Following the Ministry of Finance’s announcement on 28 May that eligible sport and fitness entities will be supported via the Job Support Scheme and rental relief from 16 May onwards, the Sport and Fitness Operating Grant amounts will be pro-rated to cover a shorter period of 8 May – 15 May 2021. SportSG will be contacting those who had earlier applied for the Sport and Fitness Operating Grant on the outcome of their applications. Applications will close on 4 June 2021.

The support from this Operating Grant will be for gymnasiums and fitness studios in Singapore which have been impacted by the latest Guidelines issued on stricter safe management measures for sport and physical exercise & activity.

Eligible entities will receive a one-time disbursement to help defray operating costs over a one-week period of 8 May – 15 May 2021.

Who can apply?

  1. Businesses under SSIC code 93111: Fitness studios and gymnasiums;
  2. Have received JSS support; and
  3. Sign a written undertaking on preserving jobs, compliance with SafeEntry implementation, and adoption of the SGClean Quality Mark., which will be included in the letter of offer provided to successful applicants for acceptance.

Note: notwithstanding the above, the following businesses are welcome to submit an application for Sport Singapore's consideration on a case-by-case basis:

  •  Businesses of similar nature which are registered under different SSIC codes. i.e. 85410, 93119, 93120;
  • Businesses which did not receive JSS support, but continue to incur significant operating costs during the Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) period.
