Sport Singapore's ActiveSG Park officially opened its doors to the public yesterday (April 27) - as part of a joint launch with Jurong Lake Gardens West within which the park is located.
The multi-faceted ActiveSG Park saw a steady stream of visitors coming to check out its amenities, which includes an integrated lap and training pool, as well as a wading pool for young children. With free entry for the day, visitors got a chance to get wet and wild with Aqua Drum Vibe instructors, while kids played in the wading pool as others opted for a quick morning swim. Other fringe activities that were part of the fanfare included a pop-up market and Zumba, with anyone welcome to join in.

For those visiting with their families but not looking to break a sweat, the ActiveSG Park also features an observation deck on its second floor with a great view of the swimming pools and also an outdoor fitness area that is free to use.

As for many others, the main attraction in the park is the ActiveGYM, an indoor gym spanning over 1000 square metres, and boasting some of the newest and best workout equipment across a range of exercise types. The gym also features a turfed functional training area.
"This place (the gym) is better than my own gym that I actually pay membership for. It's about four times bigger than the place I usually visit with newer equipment like treadmills, and the toilets are nice as well," says Mr Wong Shen Nan, a triathlete who works out three times weekly after work.
"If only this place was 24 hours, I'd definitely cancel my gym membership," jokes Mr Wong.

"I think it's good that they opened the park here. Before this, the neighbourhood was sorely lacking in such facilities. The gym is very big and well-equipped. The pool is not huge, but at least if I want to swim I don't have to go to Jurong East anymore. I'll probably be coming here every week," says Mr Dennis Teo, who resides in the neighbourhood with his fiancee June.
The facilities (gym/ pool) at ActiveSG Park are open daily from 7am to 10pm, and is located by the South Car Park of Jurong Lake Gardens, at 30 Yuan Ching Road.
