Outdoor Activities for the Thrill Seekers
Love to get your heart racing through sport, speed or spectacular feats of fear? Boy, do we have a list for you. Check out these thrilling outdoor activities available across the island – from obstacle courses amid treetops or ocean waves to bungee jumping!
1. Visit a Water Park
Price: $13 - $26 (children), $18 - $36 (adults)
For the young and the young-at-heart, enjoy hours of fun in the sun with friends at one of the city’s water parks. Get your heart thumping at Adventure Cove’s gravity-defying water coaster or Wild Wild Wet’s exhilarating near-vertical slide. Once you’ve had enough thrills, lounge about at the theme parks’ lazy rivers.
Want to test out your physical prowess? Zip over to HydroDash, Singapore’s first floating aqua park. Slip, climb and slide your way across this exciting inflatable obstacle course. We dare you to challenge your friends to see who can go the longest without falling into the water!
2. Conquer an Obstacle Course
Price: $20 - $60
Love braving heights? Go on an adventure in the sky at an obstacle course! Navigate through net bridges and balancing beams, or zip through the air on a zipline. These courses are designed to be exciting, fear-inducing but also super fulfilling once you’ve completed them!
Sentosa’s Mega Adventure is home to Mega Climb, a 15-metre high course with 36 different obstacles. Once you’re done, experience more thrill on their bungee-assisted trampoline where you get to jump as high as 8 metres!
For Easties, enjoy a day of outdoor adventure at Bedok Reservoir Park’s Forest Adventure. Enjoy the freedom of traipsing through Singapore’s only treetop obstacle course, featuring 44 rope crossings and 3 ziplines over the water!
3. Race in Go-Karts
Price: $25 - $35 (off peak), $35 - $45 (peak)
For high-speed, adrenaline-pumping action, try go-karting. See how many times you can zoom through a circuit, or challenge your friends to a race. With enough practice, you can even start to join races with the local karting community!

If you’re lucky, you might even catch a rare sighting of lionfishes or giant clams!
Companies like DiveDegree and The Dive Company offer various packages and trips to these cool diving spots. Cuddlefish Divers even offers snorkelling and coral walk tours for those who want to try something easier for starters.
You can also sign up for classes to get certified for more intensive and interesting dives, and to be part of their tight-knit communities!
11. Fish While Kayaking

Enjoy four hours of splashing good fun with Fever’s unique kayak fishing experience! Who says you can’t stay active while fishing?
The experience is kid (ages 7 and up) and beginner-friendly too! In each session, you’ll be accompanied by an experienced guide who will help you out every step of the way. Work up a sweat onboard the foot pedal-powered kayaks, while relishing in the joys of catching finned friends.
The activity is no sight for sore eyes either as you’ll get to pedal around Sentosa’s idyllic shores!
Outdoor Activities for the Animal Lovers

12. Farm Hop at Kranji Countryside
Price: From $3
Escape into Singapore’s pastoral getaway, the Kranji Countryside! Fun and eye-opening for visitors of all ages, find out how local farmers rear their livestock and prepare produce for local consumers.

Drop by Bollywood Farms (formerly known as Bollywood Veggies) for an eclectic adventure discovering locally-grown plants, fruits and veggies. You can also check out Kin Yan Farm to see how wheatgrass, mushrooms and aloe vera are grown!
Head over to the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve and Kranji Marshes to scout out Kranji’s diverse wildlife and stunning views. If one day is not enough, you can spend a night at the cosy villas of Gallop Kranji Farm Resort!
13. Ride a Horse
Price: From $10 (children, pony rides), from $85 (adults, horse rides)

Beginner-friendly guided trail rides are a great therapeutic activity for friends, couples, and families with young children. Get in touch with nature as you traverse scenic paths riddled with wildlife with this majestic creature. Check out Gallop Stable or Bukit Timah Saddle Club for this unique experience.

Outdoor Activities for Elderly
Spending time outdoors can be great for maintaining mental and physical health, especially for seniors. Here are some activities for your loved ones to enjoy their golden years with fresh air, a supportive community and good vibes all around!
14. Try Gardening at a Community Garden
Price: $38
With over 1,800 community gardens peppered across Singapore, gardening has become a highly accessible outdoor activity for the elderly.
NParks has also initiated Therapeutic Horticulture Programmes to engage senior residents in healthy outdoor activity. Your loved ones can learn to grow edible plants and sprouts, basic gardening skills and engage in plant-based crafts. This can promote positive mental and physical health.
They’ll be encouraged to exercise their bodies, minds (memory stimulation) and motor skills in a manageable way. It’s also a great way for the elderly to keep in touch with the community around them, promoting positive social interactions to keep them happy, healthy and active.
Furthermore, these programmes are highly inclusive and open to individuals with mobility issues and dementia.
15. Do Light Exercises
Price: Varies
Help your parents and grandparents to age gracefully by encouraging them to stay active outdoors. Getting some fresh air is known to improve mental health and help the elderly feel connected to the community and nature around them!
Natural environments can also refresh the mind, inspiring feelings of amazement and wonder. Bring your loved ones out for walks around the neighbourhood or in a nearby park. A picnic by the beach can be followed by a light stroll by the shore.
Alternatively, seniors can exercise at neighbourhood fitness corners or try ActiveSG’s outdoor exercises for elderly. They can also join tai chi classes offered by providers like:
- Taiji.sg
- New Age Taichi
- Nam Wah Pai
- International Tai Chi Chuan Federation
You can also help motivate them by joining in the activities and turning it into a fun bonding session. Or how about helping them form an exercise routine and encourage them by offering a relaxing shoulder massage as a treat?
