Compare that to preconceived notions of “gamers,” more often portrayed as slackers than high performing individuals, hiding out in their “caves” with a cold pizza. Being a professional gamer is serious business these days, with sponsorships and prize pools skyrocketing year-on-year. Being skilled at a video game isn’t sufficient to win in the professional arena. Esports athletes have to function at an incredibly high level, for a sustained period of time. Striking a balance between their gaming abilities and overall fitness, is tantamount to success.
